Avalara reported earnings last night and continued on their growth streak
Total revenue was $169.1 million in the second quarter of 2021, up 45% from $116.5 million in the second quarter of 2020. Subscription and returns revenue was $152.4 million, up 40% from $108.5 million in the same period last year. Professional services revenue was $16.6 million, up 109% from $8.0 million in the same period last year.
The company ended the second quarter of 2021 with approximately 16,570 core customers, up from approximately 15,730 core customers at the end of the previous quarter.
GAAP net loss was $27.7 million in the second quarter of 2021, compared to a GAAP net loss of $10.1 million in the second quarter of 2020.
GAAP basic and diluted net loss per share was $0.32 based on 86.1 million weighted-average shares outstanding in the second quarter of 2021, compared to a GAAP basic and diluted net loss per share of $0.13 based on 78.9 million weighted-average shares outstanding in the second quarter of 2020.
